Eagles fans had a scary moment in their first preseason game on Thursday when Michael Vick came off the field holding is thumb and wincing. The quarterback hit his thumb against center Jason Kelce‘s helmet on the follow-through of his final pass of the game, and appeared to be injured as he ended his second of two drives on the day.
However, Philadelphia can breathe a little easier as X-Rays came back negative on Vick’s thumb, indicating that the injury was nothing serious.
“I heard a pop and I didn’t know if it was my thumb or from the collision,” Vick said. “I was hoping it wasn’t anything severe. I should practice on Saturday.”
Vick finished the game having completed 3-of-4 passes for six yards without rushing the ball once. The former Falcons quarterback was sacked once for a seven-yard loss.
The former Virginia-Tech star has been injury-prone since entering the league thanks to his tendency to run the football and take more hits than most quarterbacks. Vick has only played all 16 regular season games in one of his nine seasons in the league, and missed three games last season.
